Single-frequency GNSS positioning network technology

It is developed the alternative strategy of the network processing of code and carrier-phase single-frequency GPS observations for centimeter level positioning in post-processing mode in conditions of sparse networks of dual-frequency GNSS stations. During the processing there are formed and used areal ionospheric and tropospheric corrections on the basis of observations of not only reference stations but also the observations of users themselves. This technology including a number of innovations has no analogs for the present moment.

According to the tests using real GPS observations and carried out in different conditions a new network technology of single-frequency positioning has got the following characteristics:

  • by single-frequency network positioning in the static mode of survey in the area of coverage of networks with baselines up to ~200 km at user distance from the nearest station up to ~100 km the error values (RMS) of positioning make up less than 1 cm in the horizontal plane and ~1-2 cm in vertical direction;
  • by single-frequency network positioning in the kinematic mode of survey in the area of coverage of networks with baselines up to ~200 km at user distance from the nearest station up to ~100 km the error values (RMS) of positioning make up ~3-4 cm in the horizontal plane and ~5-6 cm in vertical direction. In the area of coverage of networks with baselines up to ~100 km at user distance from the nearest station up to ~50 km the error values (RMS) of positioning make up ~1-2 cm in the horizontal plane and ~3-4 cm in vertical direction;
  • comparison of the results of the network kinematic single-frequency positioning by use of the software complex «SDK OCTAVA» and characteristics of the network dual-frequency RTK positioning (using VRS, MAC, FKP technologies) has shown that the developed technology (post-processing mode) does not yield by accuracy to the given dual-frequency RTK technologies.
